2017 day13 (14 September Verona)

The "City of Love" is certainly full of magnificent examples of medieval architecture and it is all so well preserved. It is a bit like being able to walk around Venice with streets instead of canals. The architecture is very similar in style and age really.
I could have taken innumerable photos. Every building has beautiful features either in the window framing, doorways, decoration - each can be studied for quite a long time to appreciate all the intricate design features.
Thousands of tourists. We took an early "open top" bus tour but later in the day it was almost impossible to get on. As usual, a good way to see the whole place before heading for the bits you specially want to see.
Lunch was a seafood baguette at a non-descript cafe but as usual the  Italians delivered with something special.
Dinner tonight is our last night with the O'Donoghues so Pud has found a really well recommended little place on trip advisor.
"Parma a travola" was just fabulous. We haven't had a bad meal in Italy but this was the best. Shared antipasto to start, dumplings with cheese and mushrooms, a magnificent (i.e. BEST EVER) tiramasu  local red wine was a meal to remember and a fitting finale to a fun and fabulous week cycling with Pud and Robyn.
