A Day in Canberra

In Canberra to see Geoff and Tracey - picked the best time of year to come - minus 5 on Saturday morning but had a great day. Went to the "Turner from the Tate" in the morning - quite a revelation as always thought he was just a landscape artist. Far from it. Some amazing works covering all sorts of art, including impressionism towards the end of  his career.

Tried a Canberra tradition for lunch - Brodburgers - fantastic and recommended!!

Went to visit "old" school mate David Renton in the afternoon and had a great time with Dave and wife Liz and son Jonathan - then headed for French restaurant (Ardeche) to celebrate Geoff's birthday a little late. Fabulous food and great night.
Spent Sunday visiting some fabulous wineries, bought a bottle of Clonakilla Shiraz which (according to Hallidays wine ratings) is on par with Penfolds Grange (but lots cheaper thankfully) so that is off to the cellar for a few years. Went to Fyshwick markets in the afternoon and then caught the plane home. All in all a great weekend  and good to see Geoff in his new abode - but he is welcome to cycling in minus temperatures!!!
